Econometric Workshop 2017

Background

CEAR is an independent non-profit organization devoted to capacity building of graduate students and professionals in economics, statistics and allied fields. The Centre is located in the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan. As part of its capacity building efforts, CEAR organizes training programs to update academics, graduate students and professionals in various public institutions on the use of analytical tools for research and policy decision making purposes.

Course Description

This course offer short-term training supports to academics that are regularly required to employ analytical tools on their job. Essentially, it combines the orientation towards applied and policy issues with a strong emphasis on quantitative approaches to these issues. Thus, it is both theoretical and applied in nature and specifically focuses on the core principles as well as practical applications of basic econometric tools for evaluation of economic relationships. The aim is to reconcile economic theory with practice, thereby empowering participants with analytical skills and a hands-on approach to decision-making processes. This program has been carefully scheduled in modules to provide a complete package of econometric tools often applied in empirical research.

The Centre organises four Econometrics workshops in a year, namely; Time Series Modelling and Forecasting  (Module I), Regression Models for Categorical Dependent Variables (Module II), Analysis of Panel data (Module III) and System Equation Modelling (Module IV).  Brief descriptions of the contents of these modules are as follows;
